Packaging: When you first get the remote you will see the packaging is amazing showing off the device in all its glory with the see through plastic covering. Most products consumers buy the packaging does not show the product very well. This is where the Harmony Product Packaging beats the competition.
Setup: Installation of the Harmony Software was easy which contains 2 software applications Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7 and Logitech DesktopMessenger only issue I found when Installing the Logitech DesktopMessenger Software Application was it does not seem to be compatible with Windows 7. Moving on Setting up an account was easy but active internet connection is needed for this. When setting up Devices and Activities I found the software does most of the work for you however I do believe setting up Foxtel can be simplified as this is a bit harder as there are 3 sections to choose from instead of one.
Ease Of Use: The Harmony One has a awesome touch screen making it simple and easy to use devices set up on the remote and very clear to see also when pressed reacts to devices set up surprising fast. Simply by pressing the Activities Button on the Harmony One going into your activities on screen then its just a simple one touch and your watching television listening to CD, Radio, Tape or Maybe DVD. You also have devices on screen which you will find your input settings and other functions for that device you want to control. Button Placement on the Harmony One is also very well designed and very easy to use in the hand. One great feature of the buttons is the illuminated backlit keys which makes the harmony one a great remote for night time use. I have managed so far replace 4 remotes with just one. Ease Of Use out of 10 you guessed it a 10.
Comfort: The Harmony One feels like a good solid device when held in the hand, the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold and use. I weighed up the standard Foxtel remote compared it to the Harmony One Remote and have found the Harmony One more comfortable in the hand as it is less bulky. Looking at the remote itself one would think its big so its going to be uncomfortable to hold. This is not the case at all with the Harmony One Advanced Remote. Some say when holding it with one hand while using the number Buttons located at the bottom of the Harmony One it feels a little top heavy so I tried it and I am happy to say I did not really feel it was top heavy it was very pleasant to hold with one hand. A rating out of 10 for comfort I give this remote a solid 9.
Change of Life: The Harmony One Universal Remote has made my life and my families life so much more simple as we have so many devices that are remote controlled now controlled on one simple easy to use remote thanks to Logitech. Clearing up cluttler of other remotes is a breeze with the Harmony One. I will continue to use the Harmony One for all devices. In saying this my family are not all that tech savy but they find the Harmony One a breeze to use. When setting it up my dad said to me that will not control everything. So once set up I showed him and he was amazed.
Recommendation: Simple if your after a solid easy to use remote for almost any device in your house this is the remote for you. Although it can sometimes be confusing when setting up devices don't panic as you have the Harmony Dedicated Support Lines waiting to help you Phone 1800 726 063 (In Australia) Hours: Mon-Sun 9am-9pm.
